Biography
Acacia obtained her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2023. While in law school, she interned at the Polk County Public Defender in Des Moines, Iowa, worked at the University of Iowa Immigration Legal Clinic, and worked as a researcher for the University of Iowa Public Policy Center as well as then-Dean of the Law School, Kevin Washburn. She was also a student writer for the Journal of Gender, Race, and Justice and was the President of the Native American Law School Association. In connection with her law school activities, Acacia participated in a year-long research project related to the Afghan evacuee resettlement efforts and authored a corresponding comparative analysis which won the 2023 Trandafir Award for Immigration, and also won the 2022 Native American and Indigenous Studies Prize. Prior to law school, Acacia studied Linguistics, French, and Arabic, and was the recipient of the 2015 Fulbright Award, for which she worked in Mohamed V University and the L'Ecole des Sciences de L'Information in Rabat, Morocco.
Acacia began her practice at a firm representing Chicago-area governmental entities in municipal litigation in Administrative, State, and Federal proceedings. Acacia joined The Sotos Law Firm in 2025 and represents government agencies, police officers, and State's Attorneys in both State and Federal Court.
